The Câmpina Municipality decided to promote a contest for solving the modernization of its downtown, presently crossed by a major traffic road, with a public space potentially underutilized. Even though the municipality hypothesis is challenging to achieve, intercrossing with an underground passage coupled with the necessary underground parking with a high capacity, is a solution considered by many Romanian cities, but that is very radical, expensive, and has a long achievement duration. Still, what can be achieved on the surface because of the segregation of circulations allowed us to reflect on the city’s industrial character, with a tributary destiny of oil exploitation and central spaces defined and outlined in a socialist manner. The key to our solution for the contest was the continuous portico, variable and multifunctional, and the generated atmosphere was deliberately industrial, but with a lot of potential for the ownership and use of various spaces.
