This is a project that has changed the face of a city. The Bosch-Rexroth Factory is an ample industrial development initiated in 2005 by the German production company Bosch. With flexibility and efficiency in mind, the project has been divided into three phases: the first one has been finalized in 2007, the second in 2009 and the most recent one in 2013. We own much of the concept of the buildings to the Bosch design team, lead by architect Christoph Schubert. He has been a true mentor for us, initiating us in the field of industrial architecture. Throughout our long collaboration, we heard, felt and assimilated his straightforward message into our own practices: “every project must be better than the one before”. Clear, airy and functional, defined by independent volumes served by technical units, the assembly distinguishes itself through its horizontality. The dark gray color of the exterior finishes is reminiscent of the car manufacturing industry, to which the factories are dedicated. Inside the complex, the pedestrian paths are slightly disengaged from the mass of the buildings, the access points are clearly defined and the connections between functional units, carefully articulated. The interior spaces are organized according to a clear hierarchy which assures seamless communication between parts. We have given careful consideration to problems of natural light and of establishing a visual contact between the workers and the exterior landscape. To us, the developments happening in Blaj are milestones in the advancement of industrial projects and they are continuously changing the fate of the city which welcomes them.
